Our mission is clear: protect California’s preeminent environmental law - the California Environmental Quality Act or CEQA; in doing so, we advocate against all legislation that weakens CEQA for the betterment of special interests; we advocate against attempts to circumvent CEQA on behalf of special interests; we advocate for equal implementation of CEQA at the city, county and state levels of government; we advocate against CEQA abuse by special interest groups, as it is the catalyst for calls to weaken CEQA; we advocate for balance between the existing environment and smart growth driven by the CEQA process; and, most importantly, we advocate for the protection of California’s natural resources and ag lands. 

California Environmental Quality Act

The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) impact on California over the last forty-plus years is significant. CEQA has safeguarded countless communities from potentially toxic and unhealthy developments. It has been instrumental in protecting California’s natural resources, reducing air pollution, and stopping urban sprawl. CEQA has and continues to empower individuals to take an active part in the development process. It is a key tool in preventing environmental racism and gentrification.
